ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book deals with the nuclear energy referendum in Sweden. The societal innovation, opinion journalism, entails publication in the media of survey results as news for the public, and sometimes also as criticism, positive or negative, of the powers that be. It has become part of the information system in all Western-style democracies. It takes time to integrate such a tool in the political process. The scientific innovation, opinion research, entails surveying the opinions of a population through random sampling of the population, and summarizing the knowledge obtained in theories about opinion formation and dissemination, and their consequences.
