ABSTRACT

Karl Kraus has never been easy to categorize politically. As a critic of the politics of war of Austro-Hungary and of the First World War in general, and as an advocate of fundamental liberal rights, for instance in the sexual realm, he was considered a man of the left — until several years before his death when he came under suspicion of being a propagandist of Dollfuss' politics and thus of Austrian fascism.
