ABSTRACT
The previous chapters in this book have each dealt with the use of content analysis in a particular field of knowledge and usually in a particular way. The present chapter is an attempt to report what the men who wrote these chapters said when they confronted each other and each other’s problems at the Allerton House conference. It is in short an attempt to seek out the areas of consensus, the common prob lems, the directions in which workers in the Held of content analysis seemed to be moving. But this chapter is not a committee report. It is one man’s view of what came out of the conference, and as such it will be stated as the author’s exposition of the group’s ideas with only occa sional references to the conference as such or credits to the members and their individual divergences or individually derived thoughts which the author has freely and gratefully borrowed.
