Test Ban and Non-Proliferation Regimes

The United States opened the nuclear weapons era on 16 July 1945, when it tested the first plutonium device at Alamogordo, New Mexico. On 6 August 1945 it demonstrated the first uranium weapon, with which it destroyed Hiroshima.
