ABSTRACT
This chapter offers some interesting and useful insights about the way people in various disciplines and adherents of various methodologies make sense of humor. Humor is involved in our relationships and studies have shown that men and women look for a sense of humor in their partners. Humor plays a big role in the mass media, where situation comedies are one of the most significant broadcast genres and comedies are a major genre in our films. Humor makes it possible for people to come close to objects, to see things as they really are, and penetrate the fog of spectacle and drama that are used by demagogues to delude people and sway their opinions. Therefore, humor is intimately connected with political freedom. At the same time humor is also responsible, it seems, for the sense of personal and psychological liberation that people feel when they have had a good laugh.
