ABSTRACT

As I got a bit older, and especially after the closure of my school, I began truly noticing the discrimination and prejudice Armenians were subjected to. After the closure of my school, I could not remain idle, and besides, as the Turkish economy deteriorated, I had to help the family. So, I was employed at the store of Giragos Hajinlian, who made a good living selling cutlery, crockery, household items, and other trinkets out of his store. I had worked for him part-time occasionally during my school years, and when he offered me a fulltime position, I accepted it gladly. My pay was 4 Mejid per month. I began working at his store on November 10, 1914. I only got to work there for six months before the deportations began.
