ABSTRACT

A perception psychologist might note the visual systems of viewers would be especially sensitive to the contrasts because of brightness contrast. Cognitive psychologists might focus on how the authors identify objects in the scene and how the authors feel specific emotions after we identify that the subject in the picture is a dead woman surrounded by distressed mourners. The value of the conceptual model is that it highlights different facets of people cognitive responses to visual images. Enhancing a perceptual experience is a way to capture the viewer's attention. Memory and imagery are important cognitive processes related to storing information. Cognitive researchers have identified separate compartments of memory and this is also relevant to people interpretation of artworks. Some cognitive psychologists study imagery and conclude that the evidence shows the authors process imagined and real objects very similarly. Categorization is fundamental for thinking. Topics like how language and culture influence classification of objects are central issues for cognitive psychologists.
