ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the plight and fate of such young people in Darfur during the period of the genocide and, in doing so, addresses the following: an overview of the type and extent of violence that black African children were subjected to in Darfur; the rape of girls by the Jan jaw eed and Government of Sudan (GoS) soldiers; the abduction of children, after which they were forced to work as slaves; the use of boys as rebel fighters; and life in the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugee camps.
