ABSTRACT

Deliberate ignorance of the doctrine of natural right means that other accounts of political and social morality have had to be provided in Western political/cultural history, but this effort when viewed from a philosophical perspective leaves much to be desired. Family life provides the platform where individuals become socialized by being in a place where they can be members of an entity beyond themselves and yet retain their sense of being an individual. Sexual differentiation is so fundamental an aspect of human existence that it is in effect undeniable, yet the culture continues to attempt to complete the disconnection between sex and reproduction with resultant negative effects on family structure. Although each particular case of a small group evolving into a state is not to be thought of as an automatic process, it seems as if it is nonetheless better to be thought of as a natural process.
