Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi reiterated that the "Zionist regime is the agent and representative of the Satan on the Earth," but stressed that the regional nations' resolve and resistance will certainly bring them victory over this regime. Satan means demonization and delegitimation, which pave the way toward, and justify, elimination. The period of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reckoning, is also one of intellectual and artistic output, geared to satisfy the masses of Muslims that gather in their families for physical and mental deprivation during the day, and collective orgies of food and entertainment after sun sets. The blood libel can then embrace various courses as long as it demonizes, diminishes, and heaps blemishes on the enemies in general and Jews in particular. It might well seem paradoxical that, in addition to the elements of anti-Semitism inherent in the Muslim hatred of Jews, there is also an expression of hesterophobia.
