ABSTRACT
I hope that the American people are grateful for what I did. For five years, on a regular basis, I fought the more extreme attempts by my editors at the BBC back in Britain to portray America as a land full of gun-toting, bible-bashing, collagen-filled lunatics. (A losing battle perhaps, but more later.)
