ABSTRACT
Most people think of the California state task force on self-esteem as yet another California joke, one more zany feelgood perpetration by blissed-out mental surfers. This notion has been encouraged by Garry Trudeau, the Doonesbury cartoonist, who poked savage fun at the task force when it was announced, and again when it issued its final report, three years and $735,000 later.
