ABSTRACT
George Washington, it is hereby charged against you that, not having the fear of Almighty God before your eyes, you did wilfully and knowingly engage in treasonous acts against your lawful sovereign His Majesty King George III. Namely, you did compass or imagine the death of the King and the Royal Family by vile plots and connivances; that you did levy war upon the King in his realm by placing yourself at the head of rebel armies; that you did adhere to the King’s enemies within his realm, to whit the kings of France and Spain; that you did give aid and comfort to these enemies in his realm and elsewhere; that you have caused the King’s justices to be slain; and that by these divers acts you have shown yourself to be a traitor against His Majesty deserving of no mercy but only of the full and terrible penalty of the law.
