ABSTRACT
To anyone old enough to remember manual typewriters and colorless tele vision pictures, it should be apparent that a wave of changes has overtaken the experience of daily life in America. Cable television, satellite dishes, video cassette players, compact discs, radar detectors, automatic teller machines, answering machines, copy machines, fax machines, multi use telephones, and personal computers populate the topography of nearly every American’s fa miliar terrain.
