ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that not only how Midrashic hermeneutics may be used as a mechanism for balancing matters and spirit in space but also how a dialogue between one’s finite past and infinite future is possible in time. It aims demonstrate how it is only through the hermeneutic dialogue with the future that oldness can be kept from marking an exit from the rational and organic fitness phase of the finite past and present and turned into an entering stage into the mystical-spiritual phase of the infinite future. The therapeutic dialogue in time may thus be possible through the rational or rather rationalized rereading of one’s past and the writing of one’s mystic future. The rational approach to the past may mean that one must read one’s past and not write it, because the act of reading refers to a given text while the act of writing creates the text.
