ABSTRACT
It remains to show that ludicrous realizations like practical jokes may mean something to our minds, or suggest some attitude-of-feeling beyond that of comic laughter. They may or may not do this. And moreover the question whether they do or not is often, as in the case of Mark Twain’s practical joke about the diamonds, a delicate one.
