ABSTRACT

Before discussing the perennially prevailing topics of laughter, I have to explain what I mean by the topic of a pointed joke. Some jokes have two topics and some only one. Some, I mean, start off talking about one thing, and fool you by ending up in another. Others talk about the same thing all the way through, but fool you as to what they are going to say about it. I call them two-track and one-track jokes.
