ABSTRACT
Any reader who has persevered with the text till the end, or even one who has reached the end by skipping over much of what has gone before it, will naturally want to know what is to come, namely, what the future holds in store for humanity. Nevertheless, there are some things we can predict with a considerable degree of certainty. Obviously many of the current large-scale trends will go on for some considerable time, unless utterly novel developments or catastrophes ensue. Barring such contingencies, it is fairly certain that the Forces of Modernity will continue unabated, though for how long we cannot be sure. Nevertheless, even generalities are worth knowing for they are the basis for making other prognostications as to what might take place. If we know for certain that the Forces of Modernity will be operative in the future then we can assume that their catalytic effect on society, culture, and the individual will also continue.
