ABSTRACT

Muhammad's charismatic movement was a revolution in the political culture of Arabia, in the full sense of the term. The process of the establishment of Muhammad's charismatic authority was a complicated course of events and related revelations. A charismatic authority always strives to establish itself above and against a traditional society. Muhammad's charismatic authority established a new order of social solidarity. It substituted brotherhood-in-faith for brotherhood-in-blood, which went against traditional Arab practices. The legacy of Muhammad's charismatic authority was left to the Islamic community. Muhammad is the intermediary between Allah and the Muslims. Allah, according to the Qur'an, is the Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent Supreme Being. The Qur'an specifically indicates that Muhammad was the last prophet to be sent by Allah: Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets.
