ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on crucial ways in which Christ Communal Organization (CCO) has managed to maintain itself by allowing changes to occur in certain areas of group life. Evangelism has continued to be a major thrust of CCO and might well be considered a dominant goal. CCO has developed an elaborate leadership structure in the process of trying to acomplish its major organizational goals. The structure logically breaks into two analytically distinct structures, which are sometimes overlapping in terms of personnel and function. When CCO moved from the Southern California area to their present location and began to expand into a nationwide organization, other elaborations of the formal structure occurred. The structures are justified using the Bible, and much is made over the fact that CCO organizes itself using Scripture. When CCO began, there was little in the way of organized methods of group support.
