ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to furnish more information about what life in Christ Communal Organization is like from an individual member’s point of view. It focuses on typical situations at the risk of glossing over the continual personal drama of being in a group that is growing and which can and does make dramatic changes of structure and activities. Group members have generally predictable lives, but their routines can be interrupted at any moment by an assignment to another activity or another location, or both. The Farm was nestled in a valley in the rich agricultural area of America’s Northwest. The settlement was shaded by fruit trees and evergreens. The large quiet trees provided isolated spots for small groups to engage in fellowship or for individuals to pray in solitude. Life at the gathering houses has changed somewhat with the establishment of separate domiciles for most married couples.
