ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will briefly describe five of the many learning programs and textbooks for teaching the Holocaust that were developed in Israel during the 1980s and 1990s. These programs were not selected because they were “better,” or “more correct” than others, or more prevalent, but because they exemplify the range of programs in use at the time of writing. Although the evaluation of these learning programs is in itself an important issue, it will not be dealt with here; the construction of a set of criteria for such evaluations may, however, evolve as a by-product of the present book.
