ABSTRACT

The North American Free Trade Agreement deal included the creation of a panel of Canadian, American, and Mexican bureaucrats who would decide environmental policy and laws for those three nations. The Old Right does not support a militant nationalism designed to enlarge the federal government. Furthermore, Thomas Fleming counsels against a nationalism that scapegoats ethnic or racial minorities, one that is built on hatred of "the other" rather than on love of one's own culture, history, and heritage. The Old Right dislikes public schools for the same reasons libertarians give: their purpose is brainwashing courtesy of the state. Again, the Old Right critique is impressive.
