ABSTRACT

T’ang, Hsu and Mou represent three typical Confucians of China today, so explaining their thought underlines contemporary trends in Confucianism in China. We have good reasons for doing so. First, these three are the most representative thinkers of the Confucian tradition in China today. Secondly, key thinkers are the barometer of the thrust of the thoughts of their age, its Volksgeist. Thirdly, Mencian scholarship is a key barometer of the thrust of Confucianism in China.
