ABSTRACT
The views presented by the range of persons interviewed during the course of this study provided perspectives useful for understanding the reasons for and the implications arising from the presence of foreign biomedical scientists, primarily as postdoctoral trainees, at NIH. These perceptions are also relevant to broader labor market issues associated with the employment prospects and working conditions of American biomedical scientists, as well as for U.S. immigration and labor poli cies.
