ABSTRACT

On November 30, 1966, I interviewed Dr. Philipp Sarasin in Basel, Switzerland. At that time, I was concluding my interviews with all those I could find who had directly known Freud, either as his patients or his students. In Sarasin’s case, I knew he had once held high offices in the International Psychoanalytic Association, and that he had also been in analysis with Freud. So he seemed obviously someone I should try to see.
