ABSTRACT

Otto Rank remains one of the least known among the several disciples with whom Freud had a major falling-out. Rank had started off in 1905 as a loyal follower of Freud’s, and Rank came to play an important personal and organizational role in Freud’s life. Rank became Secretary of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society, and editions of Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams appeared with Rank’s name on the cover, since Freud had allowed essays by Rank to be included in his text.
