ABSTRACT

Freud’s 1909 trip to America, in which he came to Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, to accept the only honorary degree he was ever awarded, has become legendary. Saul Rosenzweig has taken this historic visit and in Freud, Jung and Hall The King Maker 1 painstakingly reconstructed all the available evidence touching on this noteworthy expedition. Freud was already a celebrity before he came, but the five lectures he delivered at Clark became one of the most widely read introductions to what psychoanalysis is all about.
