ABSTRACT

This study aimed to analyze the needs for facilities and infrastructure of junior high schools and the determination of their locations based on a social demand approach and Geographic Information System (GIS) details in coastal areas of Indonesia, especially in the Agrabinta Cianjur District, West Java. This research commenced from the limited educational facilities and skills condition, especially related to schools and new classrooms for junior high schools. The methods used in this research were an explorative method followed by a descriptive method. The data analysis techniques used in this research were ratio analysis, projection analysis of infrastructure and GIS needs. The results of this study illustrate the causes of non-conformity of school sites based on geographic characteristics of the region.
