ABSTRACT

In a world where trust in our institutions is low, we are far more inclined to look to one another for help, including following the prevailing sentiment of our peers on everything from buying a book or a car to finding the best college for our sons or daughters. There is nothing quite like being in the presence of people who share common aspirations and in an environment that is free from judgment and where confidences are strictly kept. High-performing groups and high-performing teams have five factors in common: the right people on the team; a trusting environment; a productive environment; a culture of accountability; and a servant leader who can serve as the steward for the other four factors.
