ABSTRACT

The leadership team should have been selected on the basis of their support and advocacy for Affordability, as well as their influence within the organization. In other words, choose respected leaders that fully embrace the tenets of Affordability. Affordability happens best when leadership is directing the charge steering the way forward. For the best probability of success, healthcare providers should cover all organization levels: strategic, operational, and tactical. There is one characteristic that transcends across all organizations that accomplish Affordability: Their solution was created from within, using best practices, without copying nor replicating a particular approach. The best solutions are developed by motivated people, using proven process improvement methods, techniques and tools, and increasing performance by way of leading people and managing processes. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in preceding chapter of this book.
