ABSTRACT

Immediately upon my doctorate graduation, I secured a tenure-track faculty job in a private liberal arts college. The demographic composite of the college was quite homogeneous, with over 90% of the faculty and 80% of the student body Caucasian. I was one of the two international professors on the campus. I was so excited about my first job in the U.S. and fully prepared to embark on a new journey in my career. I felt that fortune was smiling on me. Little did I know that this position was just the beginning of a nightmare.
