ABSTRACT

Evaluation of 40 bitter gourd genotypes collected from various sources was carried out. Observations were recorded for the following traits, viz., plant height, number of branches per plant, days to first appearance of male flower, days to first appearance of female flower, number of male flower, number of female flower, number of fruits/plant, and fruit yield (q/ha), and the data were analyzed statistically. Among the genotypes, IC-0856 12(IIVR) followed by IC-085616(IIVR) recorded the highest mean value of growth and yield, i.e., plant height, number of branches per plant, days to first appearance of male flower, days to first appearance of female flower, number of male flower, number of female flower, and number of fruits/plant during both years of investigation.
