ABSTRACT

In this chapter we explain how the variation management approach can be extended and used for the complex supply chains of companies providing both pre- and after-sales services for customers of their repairable products. First, we explain what interactions there are between forward chains, after-sales chains, and repair sections. These interactions justify of concurrent flow planning. Then, we develop a model to select concurrently variation management decisions for chains and repair sections. Numerical analysis of results concludes with insight about variation management in these companies.
