ABSTRACT

If the teacher had begun her journey through forest school in September, she should have now completed the academic year. She and the children are considerably more confident than they were in the autumn. With the weather now warmer, and hopefully drier, there are more opportunities for allowing the children to stray to their own chosen activities. Sitting back to observe and listen is far more manageable when fingers and toes are not so cold. The activities the teacher can provide and the resource boxes can now involve more paper and mark-making materials. Considering celebrating the end of the academic year by inviting parents along to one of the sessions is inspiring? Perhaps, the teacher could make it a full day, with the parents joining them for a picnic lunch. The parents will have seen and read a lot about the weekly visits and the children will enjoy sharing their space with family members.
