ABSTRACT

For many of people August is the time of summer breaks and the opportunity to reflect on the previous year and to look forward to the next one. This time of evaluation is crucial to the success of the next academic year. If a person works in a nursery that runs throughout the year teachers may well find that their numbers are reduced as families take their summer holidays. Planning exciting experiences for the children who remain with a person is important. There are several scenarios that teachers may have to contend with. There may be an influx of older children returning for holiday clubs, some of teachers experienced staff may be taking their breaks, and some of the younger children are likely to be unsettled by the changes to their normal environment. In this instance, forest school becomes a constant, familiar resource, which will help children to feel continuity and comfort.
