Business Description. Varifilm provides $3 billion worth of specialty plas tic films and recycled products each year to the food and industrial market segments. Film is used for food packaging, food sacks, product packaging, pallet wrapping, construction barrier film, electrical insulation, and a wide variety of industrial applications. The Varifilm product is not sold directly to consumers. In addition to the basic product research, development, and customer engineer ing, support is provided through operations and Research, Development and Engineering (RD&E). These activities are coordinated through sales and cus tomer service. Varifilm works actively with industry councils and two leading universities to maintain its leadership role in the food and industrial packaging markets. Varifilm’s Recyclables business uses its own and customer scrap to produce pallets, spools, and fence posts.
