ABSTRACT

It is not uncommon to encounter MMH tasks that are beyond the capability of one person and are performed so infrequently that redesigning them is not economically beneficial. Occasional handling of awkward and bulky objects is a task that would fit in this category. Under such circumstances, it is recommended that handling of the object be aided by some kind of mechanical equipment. Figures 13.3-13.28 show the widely available mechanical aids, not in any particular order, that may be used to assist workers in carrying out infrequent and physically demanding MMH activities that are not suitable for redesigning either for economical or technical reasons.
