ABSTRACT

In Parts One and Two we have examined various concepts of explanation and methods proposed for achieving an understanding of our world. In the present part we shall apply these analyses to man himself, in order that understanding may begin at home; for a comprehensive picture of the nature of man is an essential part of any well-rounded philosophy. It provides a fundamental orientation for the estimation of what man can do in this world as well as what he can know and how he may best direct his energies.
