ABSTRACT

I would like to discuss our case study, “Bosnia on the Road to Sustainability.” This case study illustrates the substantial progress that we have made, as well as the challenges we continue to face.

First, I would like to give a brief overview on Bosnia-Herzegovina’s economic progress since the end of the war. After the war, eight years ago, Bosnia-Herzegovina was a destroyed country: gross domestic product per capita fell from US$2,500 before the war to around US$400 after the war, the damage to physical infrastructure was enormous, and about 250,000 people lost their lives.
