ABSTRACT

When part or all of a situation is observed, it is susceptible to evaluation by the observer. I f the situation observed is a product of the observer's earlier action, then the outcome of that action can be evaluated. The essential characteristic of such evaluations is the decision to change or retain the situation and/or the observer's relation to it. Hence the value placed on what is observed is the i n t e n t i o n t o change o r r e t a i n it.
