ABSTRACT
The introductory straight question was followed by what we regarded as a probe question: every mother who had breast fed even for one day only was asked 'Did you enjoy feeding the baby?' followed, if necessary, by a supplementary question, on the general lines of 'Do you think you'd have stopped anyway, even if you'd had enough milk?'
