New directions in psychotherapy research: A summary statement

Following the period of interviewing and formulating tentative positions, we embarked upon a brief, intensive attempt to draw some specific conclusions. These were written in the fall of 1969 and published originally in the sum­ mer of 1970. We have reproduced them below in the form of brief asser­ tions about the major issues with which we began our study.
