ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 discusses the RNR model’s core principles, and the technology of treatment that translated the model’s assumptions into practice. Essentially, the legitimacy of this model was established because its inventors were able to distill the scientific information into a package of 15 testable principles that directs practitioners toward effective interventions. This legitimacy is strengthened by the RNR model’s technology component that faces the “real world” of corrections and provides the tools needed to assess offenders and to create an organizational context conducive to offender treatment.
