ABSTRACT

Aim. The aim of this survey was to provide as complete a picture as possible of the northern Bantu linguistic border by collecting sufficient first-hand information to enable us to classify the languages of the area into Bantu, Non-Bantu, &c., the field of operations having been roughly delimited by the zone of discrepancy between previous writers on this subject, notably Johnston, Doke, Guthrie, and Van Bulck.
