ABSTRACT

Sustainable land management aims to balance demand and supply between resources and our natural capital in order to cope with the effects of several factors that exert pressure on systems and reduce the overall footprint of production and consumption. How we manage land resources and land management is essential to ensure Europe’s transition to a sustainable future for its citizens. Applying research results and knowledge is fundamental to improving our approaches to securing soil and land for future generations, for competitive economies and healthy landscapes. Efficient use of ecosystem services provided by the soilwater-sediment system provides solutions to meet societal needs and societal challenges.
