ABSTRACT

The introduction addresses the book’s theme, question and main findings. It provides insight into general information about Muslims in Germany, followed by a critical analysis of German multiculturalism. The author elaborates on Germany’s particularity with regard to its belated and partial recognition of immigrants and minorities. Furthermore, public review polls, public/political debates and media representations that concern Muslims are analysed. The introduction also gives an insight into secularism in Germany and the status of Islam’s official recognition by the German state. Finally, the author presents the book’s methodology and case studies.
