ABSTRACT
The word family means many things across the globe, and patterns of family life have changed substantially under the influence of globalisation and rapid knowledge transfer. We explore the needs of particular types of families (adoptive, same-sex, multi-racial) in early childhood settings, and what the specific challenges of some families can teach educators about building more sensitive and careful relationships with all the families they work with.
