ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the increasing influence of climate change and the ways this may impact on global migration, poverty and ethnic tensions. As this issue becomes harder to ignore at both the local and global level, many governments and educators are struggling to understand what this means for the early childhood classroom. Drawing on effective and well-understood guidance around teaching for sustainability, this chapter provides accessible strategies and teaching interventions that are socially and environmentally sustainable, so that children learn not just how to care for the planet, but to connect with others to make these skills more effective.
