ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a thorough methodological background to the study through the discussion of performance theory and its use in the research. The chapter further focuses on the relationship between aesthetic and social performance, which are used in the study as a parallel to the relationship between the performance of fantasy and the performance of reality. More specifically, these performances are approached through the context of theatre performance, with the research taking on the perspective of a performer of aesthetic, theatrical performance in order to study subjective, bodily performance of fantasy.
